... You say that like it is a bad thing.
I'd love to be able to sell any one item for as much as 15k.
Most of the gold stuff I have ever tried to sell to people I've either given up on entirely and merched / kept / salvaged ... or sold for like... 3k at the most.

OK, I have no real issues with doing the run with my 130hp dervish once I get to the slaves in HM. I generally suicide once per group if I'm trying to multi-task or have imbibed a bit of alcohol, though if I focus and pay attention I do not need too. Basically a standard 130hp Dervish, I use mirage cloak to mostly get around the savage slash interrupt (no recharge on that skill so can spam it until it casts even if it is interrupted). While it may not be the fastest - that particular character is after some titles and is the one I need to do the run with (though this doesn't affect my question as far as I know).
My main problem is getting there. In HM the stone shards do 450+ damage per attack, I die too fast to go to the later rez shrine and instead respawn at the bone palace (no problem with a death, I prefer to suicide once - takes me down to 58 health). In normal mode, no problem getting there with no deaths. In HM sprint doesn't break aggro and the groups never seem to spread out enough to reliably make it through. It takes me longer to get there than to complete the run due to having to map back and forth until the spawn happens to be something I can get past.
Even with merching everything it is the most profitable run I generally enjoy doing (even more so if I can finally make it there with little frustration). My basic question - in HM is the above normal? If not is there some trick I'm not seeing to making it past the groups of undead and stone shards? I can continue to hammer until I either find some trick or decide to just eat it and grind away - though I hope someone else out there has some advice. I'm not against the idea that I just simply suck at running past them - then I at least know I can work on it instead of just wasting my time (in fact, I tend to think that is the case). But if everyone else has the same issue then I will just accept it and go one.

I may not do it the best way, but this is a reliable method i use to get there...
I zone in and hopp in a wurm. Then i head east till i see the first group of awakened. To avoid them i head north while hugging that western wall. While doing this you should come up on another group of awakened. If you pause for a moment they will start to head south (towards the first group of awakened). Once the second group of awakened are out of your way, proceed to head towards the zone (cutting over to the eastern wall). By now you should have aggroed a group stoneshards and shamblings....don't worry yet though. I continue to head towards the zone until i aggro the next group of awakened. As soon as i see a hex on me i trigger the wurms run boost and head for the rez shrine near the zone. I've never had aggro follow me, and only died a handfull of times (due to getting body blocked or losing connection)
Hope this works for ya.

Lol, just take control of a wurm and use its "sprint". You should not have any problems .

In HM the worms sprint doesn't seem to break aggro. At least as far as I have seen so far 2 out of 3 spawns have enough stone shards to spike you to death nearly the instant your agro bubble gets the group - simply pressing "5" for the sprint ability isn't enough.
Puran Lighthart, thanks - not to terribly far off what I have been trying. Though I am activating the sprint ability before I aggro any of the groups, I'll see if that helps any.
Taking 2-4 tries to get to the zone is no big deal, just would speed things up quite a bit if it didn't.

It works perfectly fine for me. Unfortunately, I haven't played Guildwars in almost a month now due to being kicked out of the house. But! I did do it the day Hard Mode came out and their "Sprint" worked perfectly fine as it does in Normal Mode.

Or you guys can do it the easy way. Just going to the Fanhur the First City on the island and farm the undead there for dead swords.

In normal mode I almost never have them follow me even to where you leave the sulfur. In HM, if I happen to survive that far, they almost always follow me all the way to the portal. HM in general seems tougher to run in general - for one thing the mobs have their movement speed increased (generally figured to be between 33%-50%). Their attack speed, cast speed, and recharge speed are also increased by that amount - so not only do the shards hit for 450 damage with a single attack but you get it WAY more than normal. At the least they consistently follow for a much longer distance.

Were I simply looking for dead swords I would agree (while I am also looking for one - it is for a character I rarely play so it's a nice side, not the main goal), however not only do I *hate* trading with other players the bottom has dropped out of the prices. So far it is the highest gp/h place I have found due to the abundance of runes and high value merch items that drop along with the speed at which you can kill them. I'm averaging nearly double of any other non-elite area farm.

Excellent idea on the city, might give me a change of farming once and a while.
But, back to strcpy, you've just got to have talent and be smarter then computer AI to avoid them.

I make it EVERY time and I swear I'm not doing anything special .
Just get your wurm, slide across the ridge to avoid agro as long as you can. Make for the portal, hit sprint and you should be able to get there before they can kill you.

The only thing i can think of that your doing wrong is that your aggroing one to many mobs (as i have done this before as well). When you head to the portal, you should only aggro 1 large mob of stoneshards and mesas, 1 mob of awakened, and 1 more small mob of mesas and/or stoneshards (only two in this last mob). All three of these groups are close together and are easy to run though. Other than those three groups, you can avoid all other aggro.
The last mob before the portal (awakened) can be avoided.

Ye gods! I must be doing something wrong, because last night I finally got my Ele to the dead sword area, and in five full runs I got two golds. Yes, that's in HM.

strpcy are you wearing your starter island low defense 5 superior rune armor while in the worm?
That is probably the reason you're taking 450 damage a hit
Always wear your max defense armor while running there in the worm.
